NEET UG 2026: NTA Opens Window to View Scanned OMR Sheet and Challenge Recorded Responses

The National Testing Agency has issued an important public notice for NEET UG 2026 candidates regarding the display of scanned OMR answer sheets and recorded responses. This notice applies to candidates who appeared for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination held on 21 June 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM.

According to the notice, NTA has uploaded the scanned images of OMR answer sheets and recorded responses on the official NEET UG website. Candidates can now log in using their credentials to view their scanned OMR sheet and recorded responses.

A scanned copy of the OMR answer sheet has also been sent to the registered email address provided by candidates during NEET UG 2026 registration.

Challenge Window for Recorded Responses

Candidates who find any discrepancy between the answers marked on their physical OMR sheet and the responses recorded by the scanning system can raise an online challenge.

The response challenge window is open from:

Start Date: 13 July 2026
End Date: 15 July 2026, up to 11:00 AM

Candidates must complete the challenge process within the given time. No challenge will be accepted after the deadline.

Processing Fee

For each recorded response challenge, candidates have to pay a processing fee of ₹200 per response challenge.

The main notice mentions this fee as non-refundable. However, the annexure states that if the candidate’s claim is verified and it is established that the scanning agency made an error, the fee may be refunded. Therefore, candidates should carefully read the official instructions on the portal before submitting and paying for any challenge.

Payment can be made through debit card, credit card, net banking or UPI, as applicable on the portal.

Two-Factor Authentication for Security

To ensure data security and privacy, NTA has implemented a Two-Factor Authentication system.

Candidates will need to log in using their application number and password. After that, they will be asked to enter an OTP sent to their registered mobile number and email ID before accessing the scanned OMR sheet and recorded responses.

How to Challenge Recorded Responses

Candidates should follow these steps:

First, visit the official NEET UG website and log in using the application number and password.

Second, complete the two-factor authentication using the OTP received on the registered mobile number and email ID.

Third, click on the link for viewing or challenging the OMR sheet and recorded responses.

Fourth, carefully compare the scanned image of the physical OMR sheet with the recorded responses shown on the portal.

Fifth, select only those questions where the recorded response does not match the answer actually marked on the OMR sheet.

Sixth, pay the required processing fee and submit the challenge.

Finally, download and print the acknowledgement page for future reference.

Important Instructions for Candidates

Candidates must carefully review the scanned image of their OMR answer sheet before submitting any challenge.

Only responses marked by completely darkening the appropriate circle using a blue or black ballpoint pen will be treated as valid responses.

If more than one circle is marked for a question, the response may be treated as invalid and may attract negative marking as per the applicable marking scheme.

Once a response has been marked on the OMR sheet, it cannot be changed. Any overwriting, alteration or attempt to modify the marked response may affect scanner reading.

Stray marks, partial markings or unintended marks on the OMR sheet may be incorrectly interpreted by the scanner.

NTA has clearly stated that the response recorded by the OMR scanner is based only on the markings made by the candidate on the OMR answer sheet.

Candidates should submit a challenge only after comparing the scanned OMR image with the response displayed on the portal.

If any challenge is submitted on the basis of a manipulated or tampered scanned OMR image, the matter may be treated as unfair means and appropriate action, including debarring or legal proceedings, may be initiated as per rules.

Answer Key Challenge Already Closed

The notice also clarifies that the answer key challenge process has already been concluded. No further challenge to the answer key will be accepted at this stage.

This current window is only for challenging recorded OMR responses, not for challenging the answer key.

Helpline Details

For clarification related to NEET UG 2026, candidates can contact NTA through the helpline numbers:

011-40759000
011-69227700

Candidates can also email at:

neetug2026@nta.ac.in

Conclusion

This is an important opportunity for NEET UG 2026 candidates to verify their scanned OMR answer sheet and recorded responses. Students should not panic, but they must carefully check every recorded response against the actual OMR marking.

If there is a genuine mismatch, candidates should raise the challenge through the official portal before 15 July 2026, 11:00 AM.

Students are advised to follow only official NTA updates and avoid misinformation.

  • BDS
  • BAMS
  • BHMS
  • BPT
  • B.Sc Nursing
  • Allied Health Sciences

ICCC Bharat

Major Problems Faced by NEET-UG Qualified Students

NEET-UG is one of the most competitive entrance examinations in India. Every year, lakhs of students work hard, qualify NEET, and dream of becoming doctors. However, qualifying NEET is only the first step. The real challenge begins after the result, when students and parents start the admission process.

Many NEET-UG qualified students face confusion, pressure, financial challenges, counselling complexity, and lack of proper guidance. Even after qualifying the exam, getting the right medical seat in the right college is not easy.

1. Severe Shortage of MBBS Seats

One of the biggest problems faced by NEET-UG qualified students is the limited number of MBBS seats. Every year, a large number of students qualify NEET, but the number of available MBBS seats is much lower.

This creates heavy competition for every seat. Students with good scores may also face difficulty in getting admission, especially in preferred colleges or states.

Because of this shortage, many students are forced to explore private colleges, deemed universities, management quota seats, or alternative medical courses.

2. High Cut-Offs for Government Medical Colleges

Government medical colleges are the first choice for most students because of their low fees, good clinical exposure, and strong reputation.

However, the cut-offs for government medical colleges remain very high. Even students with good NEET scores may miss government MBBS seats because of intense competition.

In many states, the closing ranks for government colleges are very competitive. This creates pressure on students and parents during counselling.

3. Expensive Private Medical Colleges

Private medical colleges are an option for students who do not get government seats. However, the fee structure in many private and deemed medical colleges can be very high.

For many families, private MBBS fees become a major financial challenge. Apart from tuition fees, students may also need to consider hostel fees, university charges, security deposits, bond conditions, and other expenses.

Therefore, proper fee analysis is very important before selecting any private medical college.

4. Complex Counselling Process

NEET-UG admission is not based only on marks. Students have to participate in multiple counselling processes depending on their eligibility and preference.

Major counselling routes include:

  • All India Quota counselling
  • State quota counselling
  • Deemed university counselling
  • Private college counselling
  • Management quota counselling
  • NRI quota counselling

Each counselling has different rules, eligibility criteria, documents, deadlines, and fee structures. Many students and parents get confused during this process.

A small mistake in counselling can lead to losing a good seat opportunity.

5. Missing Important Deadlines

NEET counselling has several important stages such as registration, fee payment, document upload, choice filling, choice locking, allotment result, reporting, and admission confirmation.

Some students miss important deadlines due to lack of awareness or confusion. Missing even one deadline can result in losing admission chances.

That is why students must follow official counselling notifications carefully and maintain a proper admission calendar.

6. Document Verification Issues

Document verification is an important part of the admission process. Many students face problems because of incomplete, incorrect, or delayed documents.

Common document-related issues include:

  • Domicile certificate problems
  • Category certificate issues
  • Income certificate errors
  • Minority certificate requirements
  • Identity proof mismatch
  • Academic certificate mistakes
  • NRI document confusion

If documents are not proper, students may face admission delays or even rejection.

7. Poor Choice Filling Strategy

Choice filling is one of the most important steps in NEET counselling. Many students make mistakes while entering college preferences.

Common choice filling mistakes include choosing unrealistic colleges, ignoring state counselling options, not researching fees, not checking bond rules, and not understanding college quality.

A poor choice filling strategy can lead to missing better colleges or getting a seat in an unsuitable college.

Smart choice filling should be based on rank, category, budget, previous cut-offs, college quality, location, fee structure, and future goals.

8. Counselling Delays and Legal Issues

Sometimes, NEET counselling may be affected by court cases, approval delays, seat matrix changes, or policy updates. These delays create uncertainty and stress for students.

Students may have to wait for updated seat matrix details, revised schedules, or new counselling notifications. This makes the admission journey more stressful.

In such situations, students should stay calm and depend only on official updates.

9. Lack of Proper Guidance

Many students, especially from rural areas or first-generation learner families, do not have access to professional counselling support.

Without proper guidance, students may make mistakes in registration, document preparation, counselling selection, choice filling, or reporting.

Proper counselling guidance helps students understand realistic options and avoid costly admission mistakes.

10. Limited Awareness of Alternative Courses

Many students focus only on MBBS. But if they do not get an MBBS seat, they may lose one academic year while preparing again for NEET.

Students should also be aware of other healthcare career options such as:

  • BDS
  • BAMS
  • BHMS
  • BPT
  • B.Sc Nursing
  • Allied Health Sciences

These courses also offer good career opportunities in the healthcare sector. Choosing the right alternative course can save time and create a strong career path.

From Registration to Seat Allotment – Proper Guidance Matters

NEET-UG counselling is a step-by-step process. Students need support from registration to seat allotment and admission confirmation.

Important stages include:

  • Registration
  • Choice filling
  • Document verification
  • Seat allotment
  • Reporting
  • Admission confirmation

With expert guidance, students can avoid errors, understand better college options, complete the process on time, and make informed decisions.

NMC Inspections Expected to Become Stricter: Medical Colleges May Face Notices Over Faculty and Infrastructure Concerns

The medical education sector may witness stricter monitoring this year as the National Medical Commission is expected to intensify inspections of medical colleges across several states, including Telangana and Bihar. As per inputs coming from different colleges, inspections for the next academic year’s NEET-UG admission cycle and NMC approvals may be taken up with greater seriousness and closer scrutiny.

This development comes at a time when serious concerns have been raised about the quality of infrastructure, availability of genuine faculty, hospital facilities, clinical material, and compliance with NMC norms in some medical colleges. The government appears to be taking a stricter stand to ensure that colleges approved for 150, 200, or even 250 MBBS seats are actually maintaining the required standards on the ground.

Surprise Inspections and Stronger Government Monitoring

In the past, many colleges were reportedly prepared for scheduled inspections. However, this year, surprise inspections may become more important. The purpose of such inspections is to check the real-time functioning of colleges, hospitals, faculty availability, patient load, laboratories, hostel facilities, and other academic infrastructure.

The government’s intention seems clear: medical colleges must not only get approval on paper but must also maintain the required standards throughout the year. If deficiencies are found, colleges may receive notices, face reduction of seats, or may be denied approval for additional seats.

Ghost Faculty and Infrastructure Issues Under Scanner

One of the biggest concerns in medical education has been the allegation of “ghost faculty” — faculty members shown on records but not actually available for regular teaching and clinical work. Along with this, there are also concerns about inadequate hospital infrastructure, poor patient inflow, insufficient teaching facilities, and shortage of essential departments.

If such issues are found during inspection, it directly affects students’ academic quality and clinical exposure. A medical college is not just a building with classrooms; it must have a fully functional hospital, qualified faculty, proper laboratories, and real clinical training opportunities.

New Seat Approvals May Face Tougher Scrutiny

Many colleges across India, including in Telangana and Bihar, are applying for new MBBS seats or an increase in existing seats. However, this year the approval process may not be easy. Colleges applying for seat enhancement may have to prove that they have proper faculty strength, hospital capacity, patient load, equipment, and infrastructure according to NMC standards.

This means colleges seeking approval for 150 to 200 seats or 200 to 250 seats may be examined very carefully. If the government and NMC find that the college is not maintaining the required standards, approvals may be delayed, restricted, or denied.

Why This Matters for Students and Parents

For NEET-UG aspirants and parents, this is a very important issue. Before choosing a medical college, students should not look only at seat availability or fee structure. They must also check whether the college has proper NMC approval, good hospital exposure, genuine faculty, sufficient patient flow, and strong academic infrastructure.

A seat in a medical college is valuable only when the college provides quality education and clinical training. If a college faces NMC notices or seat reduction later, it may create unnecessary stress for students and parents.

Public Concern: Quality Medical Education Must Be Protected

Medical education is directly connected to public health. If colleges run without proper faculty, infrastructure, and clinical facilities, the quality of future doctors may be affected. This is not only a student issue; it is a public concern.

The government’s stricter approach can be seen as a necessary step to protect the credibility of medical education in India. Colleges must understand that approvals are not just a formality. They carry a responsibility toward students, patients, and society.

What Can Be Expected This Year?

This year, students may see faster inspections for new colleges and seat enhancement proposals. At the same time, colleges with deficiencies may receive notices or may face difficulty in getting approvals. The focus is likely to remain on transparency, real infrastructure, genuine faculty, and proper hospital functioning.

Parents and students are advised to follow official NMC updates, state counselling authority notices, and college approval status carefully before making admission decisions.

Conclusion

The expected strict inspections by NMC and the government’s serious approach may bring more accountability into medical education. While this may create pressure on colleges, it is ultimately important for students and the public.

Medical colleges must maintain real standards, not just paper compliance. For NEET-UG aspirants, the message is clear: choose a college only after checking its approval, hospital facilities, faculty strength, and academic environment.

Quality medical education is not only about getting a seat — it is about becoming a competent doctor.

(Extended Examination Window)

Top 15 Non-Deemed Private Medical Colleges in Karnataka: Comprehensive KEA Counseling Guide

When exploring undergraduate medical education (MBBS) in Karnataka, navigating the administrative differences between institutions is crucial. While “Deemed Universities” conduct admissions independently through central MCC counseling, Non-Deemed Private Medical Colleges and Private Universities fall directly under the state-level counseling conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA).

For candidates targeting the General Open (OPN) Category—which invites applicants from both Karnataka (State Merit) and all-India (Open Merit)—these institutions represent some of the highest-rated clinical opportunities in the country. To help structure your choice-filling preferences, this guide lists the top 15 non-deemed private medical institutions in Karnataka under KEA counseling, organized by Student Preference, Patient Input (Clinical Load), and NEET Cutoff Trends.
