Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences, Andhra Pradesh, Vijayawada, has released the prospectus for admission to MBBS and BDS courses under the Competent Authority Quota, also known as the Convenor Quota, for the academic year 2026–27.
Students who have qualified for NEET UG 2026 must submit an online application to participate in the counselling process for Andhra Pradesh State Quota and Competent Authority Quota seats.
The entire counselling process will be conducted online. Application submission, document uploading, fee payment, publication of the merit list, web-option entry and seat allotment will be carried out only through the official university websites.

What Is the Competent Authority Quota?
In simple terms, the Competent Authority Quota consists of State Quota seats available in government medical and dental colleges and Category-A seats in eligible private medical and dental colleges in Andhra Pradesh.
The quota mainly includes:
- Seats remaining in government medical and dental colleges after deducting 15% All India Quota seats
- Category-A seats in private unaided non-minority medical and dental colleges
- Category-A seats in private unaided minority medical and dental colleges
- 126 MBBS seats in Sri Padmavathi Medical College for Women, Tirupati
All these seats will be allotted through a common online counselling process.
NEET UG 2026 Qualifying Cut-off Scores
Candidates applying for AP MBBS and BDS Competent Authority Quota counselling must have secured the prescribed minimum qualifying score in NEET UG 2026.

Students must remember that merely qualifying for NEET does not guarantee a seat. Final admission depends on the candidate’s eligibility, document verification, merit rank, reservation rules, seat availability and the order of web options entered during counselling.
Educational Qualification
The candidate must have passed Intermediate, Class 12 or an equivalent examination with the following subjects:
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology or Biotechnology
- English
Minimum marks required
- OC and EWS candidates: At least 50% in the prescribed science subjects
- BC, SC and ST candidates: At least 40% in the prescribed science subjects
- OC-PwD candidates: At least 45% in the prescribed science subjects
Age Eligibility
The candidate must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31 December 2026.
Candidates who do not complete 17 years by 31 December 2026 will not be eligible to participate in the counselling process.
Local and Non-Local Eligibility
Local status plays an important role in Andhra Pradesh Competent Authority Quota admissions.
- Local candidates are eligible for 85% Local Area seats as well as 15% Unreserved seats.
- AP non-local candidates are eligible only for the 15% Andhra Pradesh Unreserved seats, subject to the applicable eligibility rules.
Andhra University Local Area
The Andhra University area includes:

Sri Venkateswara University Local Area
The Sri Venkateswara University area includes:
- Anantapur

Candidates must upload the required study certificates, residence documents, migration certificate and other applicable records to establish their local or non-local status.
Reservation Details
Vertical reservations
Scheduled Castes: 15%
- SC Group-1: 1%
- SC Group-2: 6.5%
- SC Group-3: 7.5%
Scheduled Tribes: 6%
Backward Classes: 29%
- BC-A: 7%
- BC-B: 10%
- BC-C: 1%
- BC-D: 7%
- BC-E: 4%
Economically Weaker Sections: 10%
EWS reservation will be implemented in government medical colleges wherever approval from the Government or the National Medical Commission is available.
Reservation for Women
A total of 33⅓% of seats in each category will be reserved for women candidates under horizontal reservation rules.
Special-Category Reservations
The prospectus provides the following special-category reservations:
- CAP or Army category: 1%
- NCC: 1%
- Sports and Games: 0.50%
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities: 5%
- Children of Police Martyrs: 0.25%
- Bharat Scouts and Guides: 0.5%
Certificates submitted under special categories will be scrutinised by the respective departments or designated authorities.
Application and Processing Fee
Without a late fee
- OC and BC candidates: ₹3,000
- SC and ST candidates: ₹2,400
With a late fee
- OC and BC candidates: ₹23,000
- SC and ST candidates: ₹22,400
Bank charges will be additional.
Once paid, the application and processing fee will not be refunded or adjusted against any future counselling process.
Documents Required
Before submitting the online application, candidates should scan and keep the following documents ready:
- NEET UG 2026 scorecard
- Class 10 marks memo or birth certificate
- Intermediate or Class 12 marks memo
- Study certificates from Class 6 to Class 10
- Study certificates for both years of Intermediate
- Transfer certificate
- Community or caste certificate, wherever applicable
- Minority certificate, wherever applicable
- EWS certificate, wherever applicable
- Parental income certificate or white ration card, wherever applicable
- PwBD certificate, UDID card and medical assessment report, wherever applicable
- NCC, CAP, Sports, Police Martyrs’ Children or Scouts and Guides certificates, wherever applicable
- Aadhaar card
- Passport-size photograph with a white background
- Candidate’s signature
Candidates must ensure that all documents are clear, complete and uploaded in the prescribed format. Applications may be rejected if the documents are incorrect, incomplete, unclear or not uploaded properly.
Merit List and Web Counselling Process
After verification of the certificates uploaded by the candidates, the university will publish a Provisional Merit Position on its official website.
Candidates will be given an opportunity to submit grievances regarding errors or discrepancies. After examining the grievances, the university will publish the Final Merit Position.
The schedule for web-option entry will be announced separately.
Candidates must enter their MBBS and BDS college preferences very carefully. The order in which colleges and courses are entered is extremely important. An incorrect option-entry sequence may result in the candidate missing a better college or preferred course.
Seat Allotment and College Joining Process
After a seat is allotted, the candidate must pay the prescribed university fee of ₹12,600 and download the provisional allotment order.
At the time of reporting to the allotted college, candidates will generally be required to submit:
- Printed copy of the completed online application
- Provisional allotment order
- Original certificates
- One set of attested photocopies
- Fee-payment receipts
- Any additional documents required by the allotted college
If any discrepancy is found during the verification of original certificates, the provisional allotment may be cancelled.
Tuition Fee Highlights
The tuition fee for the 2026–27 academic year will be governed by the orders issued by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
The prospectus has provided the following 2025–26 fee details for reference:
- Government Medical Colleges, MBBS Category-A: ₹15,000 per year
- Government Dental Colleges, BDS: ₹9,000 per year
- Private Medical Colleges, MBBS Category-A: ₹16,500 per year
- Private Dental Colleges, BDS Category-A: ₹14,300 per year
The prospectus also mentions fees for Management and NRI categories. However, candidates applying under the Competent Authority Quota should verify the exact fee applicable to them from the latest official notification and at the time of college allotment.
