With the recent curriculum revisions by the National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions, the admission process for this esteemed program has undergone significant refinement, ensuring a holistic approach to candidate selection and fostering excellence within the field.
Course duration – 5 years program (including one year of internship) – Bachelor’s degree level
Eligibility Criteria: The first step towards embarking on this rewarding journey is meeting the eligibility criteria set forth by the regulatory body. Prospective candidates must ensure they fulfill the necessary prerequisites, including educational qualifications specified by the commission. Additionally, participation in the entrance test is mandatory for all applicants, serving as a standardized assessment to gauge preparedness and aptitude for the program.
He/she has passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) or equivalent examination by recognised any Indian board or a duly constituted
Board with pass marks and (50%)in aggregate of physics, chemistry and biology(botany & zoology),
Candidates who have studied abroad and have passed the equivalent qualification as determined by the Association of Indian Universities will form the guideline to determine the eligibility and must have passed in the subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology and
English up to 12th Standard level
Candidates who have passed the Senior Secondary school Examination of National Open School with a minimum of 4 subjects
with any of the following group subjects with pass marks (min.50% marks).
a. English, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology
b. English, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
He/she has attained the age of 17 years as on – current year
- He/she has to furnish at the time of submission of application form, a certificate of Physical fitness from a registered
medical practitioner to the effect, that the candidate is physically fit to undergo bachelor of Physiotherapy program - For pursuing BPT a candidate with locomotor disability should have disability less than 50% and for visual and
speech and hearing disability a candidate should have disability percentage less than 40 %. - The following with locomotor disability shall not be eligible for BPT program – involvement of both upper limb,
involvement of dominant upper limb more than 50 % involvement of spine , more than 50 % involvement of lower
limb
Selection Procedure: The selection process is designed to identify individuals with the passion, dedication, and academic proficiency required to excel in the field of physiotherapy. Two pathways are available for admission:
1. University Entrance Admission Test:
- The university, government, or competent authority conducts an entrance test in accordance with the prescribed syllabus based on the 10+2 scheme.
- Candidates are evaluated based on their performance in the written test, with successful applicants proceeding to the next stage of the admission process.
2. National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET):
- Alternatively, candidates have the option to seek admission through NEET, a national-level entrance examination widely recognized across various healthcare disciplines..
Counselling and Seat Allotment:
- Successful candidates from the written test stage are invited to participate in counselling sessions nominated by the university or the governing board.
- Counselling sessions serve as a platform for assessing candidates’ preferences, discussing available seat options, and providing guidance regarding program requirements.
- Seat allotment is carried out based on the merit of the candidates and the availability of seats on the respective counselling days, ensuring a fair and transparent allocation process.
