SMC is recognised by Govt of India and National Medical Commission(NMC) affiliated to Dr.NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada. SMC runs under Shafa Educational Society under the Chairmanship of Dr.M.Santhiramudu. Santhiram Medical College is in line with the “Health for All”.

SMC is established in the backward region of Rayalaseema at Nandyal town. Currently the college is training 100 MBBS and 53 Postgraduate students. College campus is spread over 30 acres. 8 Lecture Halls with Demo rooms are available with WiFi and audiovisual system with different seating capacities catering to the needs of students. College Library upgraded and adopted internet technologies having books more than 8000 and few journals. Auditorium has a seating capacity over 1000 used for dual purposes. Dr.M.Santhiramudu a visionary established a medical institution in this area to provide and develop medical professionals from backward areas of Rayalaseema. Teaching staff with dedication, hardwork and knowledge training the students making them professional doctors. Cafeteria is facilitated with enough capacity to take care of needs of the students, teaching staff and public. Separate hostel facility for Boys and Girls with attached gymnasium.

SMC facilities provide emergency, outpatient, inpatient, day-care, community outreach, through a 930 bedded facility and with over approximately 500+ dedicated competent and service-oriented staff.
